Hey there, folks, today, we’re talkin’ about a classic today, “Dumb and Dumber.” This movie is absolutely legendary, especially this one scene that’s an absolute gem!

Lloyd and Harry, played by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, roll up to a convenience store during their insane road trip. And what do they find? Two dudes sippin’ on some Big Gulps. Lloyd walks up to them like he’s known them all his life, and he goes, “Hey guys, oh, Big Gulps, huh? Alright! Welp, see ya later!” And boom, that’s it! A Dumb and Dumber reference was born!

Now, this Dumb and Dumber scene is so short you can blink and miss it, but if you’ve checked out the YouTube comments on that clip, you’d see it’s like a sacred relic for fans. It’s like the Mona Lisa of comedy, and it’s only like ten seconds long!

Now, here’s the twist, I heard this rumor that Carrey was trying’ to make those dudes talk because, you know, if they said a word, the studio had to pay them more as speaking actors instead of extras. Man, that’d be a genius move, right?

Turns out, Carrey did ad-lib that iconic Dumb and Dumber line, but he wasn’t scheming to break the bank for New Line Cinema. Nope, those Big Gulp dudes weren’t even Dumb and Dumber extras in the first place. According to the director, Peter Farrelly, in a Reddit AMA from 2014, they were just random dudes hanging around the store while they were filming in Colorado. Farrelly decided, “Hey, let’s throw ’em in the scene!” They had Big Gulps, and Jim just rolled with it. No script, no plan, just spontaneous hilarity.

So, there you have it, folks! The Big Gulp guys from Dumb and Dumber, they didn’t get paid for speaking roles, hell, it sounds like they didn’t get paid at all. They ain’t even in the credits, as far as I can tell. But you know what? They got something’ better. They’re forever etched in comedy history, all thanks to a chance encounter with Jim Carrey and some oversized sodas. Justice for the Big Gulp guys? Well, maybe not, but they sure left their mark. Here's to Dumb and Dumber, a comedy classic.
